About LiftTribe
Hi, I’m Roman. I built LiftTribe as a way to help myself go to the gym more regularly. While many other fitness apps emphasize logging specific exercises and sets during your workout, I felt like there weren’t enough that just asked if you showed up — the thing I cared about most whenever I found myself in a rut.
The Consistency Ring
I built the primary metric, the Consistency Ring, centered around this whole idea of showing up. By giving each user and Tribe a memorable 0-100 score, my hope is that the added gamification will increase your chances of consistently reaching your fitness goals.
Adding Tribes
I created the Tribe System because I felt like working out, although quite enjoyable to do alone, was missing a social component that could greatly boost my motivation long-term. I noticed that from past experiences, I tend to perform best when I know others are counting on me — or at least when we can see each other’s work. But it doesn’t seem to require people to be in my close proximity for the cooperative feeling to arise. For example, starting a Minecraft server with friends always felt like a fun teamwork activity even if we weren’t always online at the same time. That same feeling, of leveling up together asynchronously, is exactly what I wanted to capture for the Tribe System.
